Our 2016 bake sale was held on Saturday, September 24 at Catalyst Gallery to raise funds and awareness for the Beacon Community Kitchen, formerly the Beacon Soup Kitchen, which aims to feed over 50 Beacon residents daily. The money raised by the bake sale was used to purchase new kitchen equipment and basic food supplies, as well as expand the Kitchen’s outreach within our community and to local housing developments.

FOR GOODNESS BAKE 2015 was held on Saturday, June 6 at Beacon’s Catalyst Gallery to raise funds and awareness for the Green Teen Community Gardening Program. A program of Cornell Cooperative Extension Dutchess County, Green Teen teaches life and work skills through hands on experiences in farming and gardening, health and nutrition, entrepreneurship, and leadership.
Over 100 local bakers, businesses and volunteers generously donated their time, talents and tools to the bake sale, and every bit of food was sold. Nearly $3,000 was raised to benefit Green Teen. The funds will be used to purchase a new walk-in cooler and vegetable wash station for the Teens' garden at the Beacon Rec Center. This will allow the Green Teens to better care for, and store, the many wonderful things that they grow; and help make sure that every last item from their gardens goes to someone who needs it.
